Jay Hill's team is getting a Power Five program talent. Jordan Allen, who's played at the SEC's Tennessee the past three years, announced Sunday on Twitter he will be headed to Weber State to finish his college career. On Dec. 9, Allen said he had entered the NCAA transfer portal, with the intention of finishing his last two years as a tight end/wide receiver at another school. The 6-foot-4, 238-pounder has been well-traveled in his college career, as Weber State would be his fourth school. He started off at UC Davis - which, like the Wildcats is a member of the Big Sky Conference - before transferring to junior college program City College of San Francisco after a redshirt year in 2016. - Deseret News

UNLV wide receiver Randal Grimes has entered the NCAA's transfer portal. The 6-foot-4-inch, 205-pounder from Desert Pines High was suspended for the entire 2020 season. Grimes chose Southern Cal as a four-star recruit out of high school but transferred to UNLV after two seasons with the Trojans. Grimes was granted immediate eligibility to play for the Rebels and shone in his only season on the field. He led UNLV with 44 catches for 696 yards and seven touchdowns as a sophomore in 2019. UNLV coach Marcus Arroyo declined to comment on the reason for Grimes' suspension when it was announced in November, other than to say it was for a violation of "team or school rules." - Las Vegas Review

Azusa Pacific is ending its football program this month after 55 years of Division II and NAIA competition. Athletic director Gary Pine said the decision was prompted by other four-year schools in California dropping the sport over the last 30 years, giving Azusa Pacific fewer in-state opponents to play, which led to higher travel costs. In 2019, the Cougars had to fly to all six of their road games, making them the only Division II or III school in the country forced to do that. Azusa Pacific is the only Division II or NAIA school in California that still had football. In 1975, there were 37 schools in the state that played football; now it's 17. Only Chapman University in Orange in 1994 has added the sport. - AP College Football

UNLV wide receiver Randal Grimes has been suspended through the end of the calendar year, UNLV coach Marcus Arroyo said Tuesday. "Randal Grimes is not with us for team or school rules," Arroyo said. "And I'll keep the terms of that in-house out of respect for him as an athlete." Grimes, a junior from Desert Pines High, led the Rebels with 44 catches for 696 yards and seven touchdowns as a sophomore last season after transferring from Southern California. He has not played in either of the first two games this season. Arroyo also announced that wide receiver Mekhi Stevenson, defensive backs Drew Tejchman and Greg Francis, and fullback Jamal Neal have opted out of this season because of the coronavirus pandemic. "(Those four) are currently still part of the team, but they are opting out of the COVID year," Arroyo said. - Las Vegas Review Journal
